Though the year is not yet over, the Wii has already seen a good amount of nothing less than excellent. Here is a list of the top five games that will lead the way for Wii games in the future.
#5: De Blob
De Blob is a platformer based on the indie developed game of the same name. In it, the player stars as a small, colorful blob in a world being taken over by Nazi-esque gray blobs, bent on ridding the world of color forever. Your objective is basically to go from level to level, plopping yourself into different colors of paint and spreading color across a dull, gray city.
The game supports four-player multiplayer action, and stands as a worthy example of a third-party Wii title done right.
#4: Guitar Hero World Tour
On the Wii, World Tour is more than just the fourth major installment in the Guitar Hero franchise; it’s also the first Wii Guitar Hero to support downloadable content, and showcases the best online multiplayer options for the series yet. After all, players can now go online for four-on-four battle of the bands matches.
Not to mention the game’s exclusive Mii jam session mode, offering simple, yet fun interactivity for up to two players.
#3: Mario Kart Wii
Mario Kart is well-renowned for it’s deep combat racing gameplay. The latest game in the series is also the first to incorporate the use of motorcycles in addition to the classic karts.
Mario Kart Wii is also the first console game in the series to feature online multiplayer, and has been lauded as the best online gameplay that Nintendo has cooked up yet.
#2: No More Heroes
From the makers of Killer7 comes another action-packed adventure geared toward mature audiences. Players take control of Travis Touchdown, a professional mercenary who got his own lightsaber over the internet.
Much of the gameplay is reminiscent of other sandbox-style gameplay creations, but the real meat of the game is in the combat. Combos are pulled off by pressing the A and B buttons, while the shaking of the Wii remote and nunchuk are used for extremely violent finishing moves.
No More Heroes is a great achievement and a must-have for those who have been waiting for the mature experience on the Wii.
#1: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Since the N64, every console Nintendo releases sees a reiteration of the classic Super Smash Bros. The latest, Brawl, goes beyond anything the series has done yet, and delivers a multiplayer action experience you’ll not soon forget.
Much like other reiterations on the Wii, Brawl is the first in the series to support online play, insuring that this is an installment that people will still coming back and playing for quite a long while.
