It’s been a big year, but even after all the games that have been released, the year is not over. Here are three games coming this December that people have been waiting for, for a long while.
#3: Sonic Unleashed
Earlier this year, screenshots and a video were leaked off one of Sega’s servers. This was followed by an announcement by Sega, basically saying: “You got us; we’re making a Sonic game.” Not only that, but they had been making this Sonic game for almost three years.
Sega promised many things, including proficient graphics with gorgeous detail, tons of speed, and running action that would switch between 3D and oldschool 2D side-scrolling, and back again.
Year after year, fans have been disappointed by Sega’s efforts to make a good Sonic game. Were things about to turn around for good? In another month, we’ll know.
#2: Prince of Persia
Yes, Assassin’s Creed is awesome, but it’s just not the same as Prince of Persia. That is why fans were up in arms when Ubisoft announced the series’ revival and return on seventh-generation consoles.
Prince of Persia will be experiencing some serious changes of gameplay, reverting in many ways more to what Assassin’s Creed was. There will be a world map in which you can maneuver freely, going to each objective in any order you wish. Gameplay has been modified to become faster and smoother, as you leap and bound between poles and crags in the sides of cliffs. Combat has also experienced a lot of change, and involves the combo-based assistance of your female partner, Elika.
Rarely does a franchise like Prince of Persia disappoint, and this newest installment looks to be the best one yet.
#1: Velvet Assassin
It’s been a while since we had a new, solid looking stealth-action franchise. Yes, Velvet Assassin is what I’m talking about: a WWII era game based on the true undercover operative named Violet Zsabo(though in the game she is known as Violet Summers). Violet is an intrigueing protagonist who lost her husband in the war, and the details that unfold over the story will surely hold the gamer’s attention.
Gameplay involves the use of stealth kills with a knife, the use of various pistols and guns, as well as the ability to inject yourself with morphine. Besides the equipment that you can use, the amount of things you can do in different situations is impressive. For example, you can whistle to distract a guard, or you can fire a silenced pistol at a certain area to throw guards off. If a soldier is wearing a grenade belt, you can even sneak up behind him, pull a pin out of one of the grenades, and dash off. Boom.
Like I said, it has been ages since a new stealth-action franchise looked this good. With the unique WWII setting and intrigueing characters and missions, what’s not to like?
