Wii games are usually known for their unique controls, rarely for graphics and presentation. Here are three popular games coming early next year that will raise the bar for Wii games everywhere.

#3: MadWorld

While developer Platinum Games prepares Bayanetta on the Ps3 and Xbox 360, an unexpected appearance is also planned for the Wii. An extremely bloody gorefest on the Wii? You better believe it, because that’s what MadWorld is. In this game, players take on the role of Jack… himself a contestant in a game called Death Watch.

The visuals seem to take a page out of Sin City’s book, with black-and-white graphics save for the spewing blood. The gameplay relies heavily on strategic and gruesome combos pulled off using the Wii Remote.

MadWorld has an extremely unique game style that has to be seen to be properly believed. It will hit the store shelves next March.

#2: Sonic and the Black Knight

Though Sonic has seen more than a few mediocre games over recent years, Sonic and the Black Knight seems to be turning things in the right direction.

Following the Story-Book style of the spinoff series that Sonic and the Secret Rings began, Sonic embarks on an Arthurian inspired adventure to end the evil reign of the Black Knight. In this adventure Sonic dons a sword and gauntlet to defeat evil knights that block his path. The game appears to be much more open and boasts graphics unlike any platformer yet on the Wii. As you race over a green plain, thousands of blades of grass swish back and forth in the breeze.

The combat will involve Sonic’s careful manouvering and spinning and slashing whilst flying through the air to defeat his opponent. Sonic fans everywhere can look forward the game’s release on next March.

#1: Tenchu: Shadow Assassins

Tenchu is currently the only popular ninja-based stealth-action game. Though the franchise’s last few games are considered dated, this latest Tenchu: Shadow Assassins will attempt to catch up and deliver on many of the aspects that have become the norm for today’s games.

For example, the older Tenchu levels were often open and nonlinear. Shadow Assassins will be very linear and will incorperate many different ways to get past any given area in each linear level.

The game will have many different stealth kill options for different situations and and a system where players can quickly slip between dark areas, such as bushes and under tables.

This main gameplay will be ten missions whose objective is to preserve peace in feudal Japan, and the developers are planning an extra fifty “quests” for players to work through.

Shadow Assassins will be available next February. This is one game stealth-action you should not miss.
