The Lack of Itagaki’s Trash Talk Saddens Tekken’s Harada
Tomonobu Itagaki spent the better part of two decades at Tecmo and Team Ninja, where his major projects included developing the Dead or Alive fighting game series and making sure you knew the competition (Tekken in particular) wasn’t any good. He left the developer several years ago and is now working on action game Devil’s Third at Valhalla Game Studios . In other words, he’s no longer in the fighting game business and therefore no longer trash talks the competition — and it’s exactly that which Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada misses

Super Mario Land 2 Joins the 3DS eShop Lineup
It’s not a half-bad week for downloadable titles on 3DS. A day after getting The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (also available on DSiWare) for free , a new Mario title for Game Boy is now available for download. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is the sequel to the already-released Super Mario Land and, like its predecessor, it’s quite a bit different than the Mario games you may be used to seeing on other platforms.

By: Jeremy Parish September 25, 2011 Twenty-five years ago, on September 26, 1986, Konami launched a brand new game in Japan that would go on to become one of the longest continuously running franchises in the medium’s history. Akumajou Dracula — roughly translating to “Demon Castle Dracula,” which became ” Castlevania ” in the West in accordance with Konami’s weird obsession with pun-laden localization in the ’80s — was actually two different games on two different platforms.

New 3D Classics Game TwinBee Now Out on 3DS
The latest 3D Classics title has been released on the 3DS eShop today. TwinBee is a vertical-scrolling shooter that started out in arcades before being brought to the Famicom (NES) in Japan. It was never brought to North America on that platform, but we did get the arcade version as a part of Konami Classics: Arcade Hits for DS in 2007, albeit under the name RainbowBell

Netflix Adds Game Rentals to its Renamed DVD-by-Mail Service
Netflix is undergoing some major changes, including the separation of its DVD-by-mail and streaming services into two separate brands, as well as the addition of videogame rentals. In a new blog post and accompanying video, Netflix CEO and co-founder Reed Hastings apologized for the way recent changes were made to the service. (Namely, the price of the service increased for those with plans that send them discs and provide streaming access.) This was part of a move to separate the two businesses; it’s very apparent that streaming is the future and Netflix would like to get away from its mailing service, and it’s making a big step in that direction by breaking off the DVD-by-mail service and renaming it Qwikster

WiiWare Gets MotoHeroz Today, 3DS Adds a Game Boy Mega Man
It’s a light offering of new content for Nintendo’s various download service this, but there is a Mega Man for 3DS and the new game from the developers of the Trials series. Before you go getting too excited about the prospect of having a Mega Man game to play on your 3DS, know that it’s a port of Game Boy title Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge (an eShop launch title in Japan)
