Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd Headline April Guitar Hero DLC

Activision has outlined a list of upcoming DLC for Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero . Among this month’s music downloads are tracks from Blur, Black Sabbath, Fall Out Boy, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, plus several others. April gets off to a solid start with a three-pack of tracks from Lynyrd Skynyrd, which you can download right now on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the PlayStation Store, and the Wii’s Shop Channel.

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird Confirmed for NBA Jam

Electronic Arts is clearly trying to evoke a certain level of nostalgia in their new NBA Jam reboot to recapture fans of the originals, and what better way to do it than include some classic NBA stars as well? MTV Multiplayer reports that Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird will both appear in the game…and these legendary rivals will be playing on the same team.

Ubisoft’s Just Dance Sells 2 Million Worldwide

Ubisoft has announced that Just Dance, its Wii-exclusive music game that launched in November, has surpassed 2 million copies sold worldwide. “The consumer response to Just Dance has been overwhelming,” Ubisoft’s John Parkes said in a statement.

Google and Nintendo Team Up For a Search-Powered Wii Game

Google has dabbled with games in the past, and Forbes even suggested that they could be looking to publish games at some point. They’re not going quite that far (at least not yet), but we will soon be seeing Google’s name show up in a new Nintendo game called And Kensaku . The quiz-style Wii game is being developed by Shift, according to Siliconera , and has you competing with other players to determine which search term has the most results

Miyamoto Wants Games to be as Socially Acceptable as Movies

Before being honored with an Academy Fellowship award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts last month, beloved Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto sat down for a lengthy chat with Eurogamer. The topics of discussion ranged from Super Mario Galaxy 2 ‘s difficulty to Miyamoto’s early days at Nintendo, but a single theme seemed to resonate throughout the interview: a desire to make simple, fun games that anyone can enjoy. When it comes to Miyamoto’s approach to game design, the Mario creator recalled a formative conversation with the late Gunpei Yokoi, designer of the Game Boy and producer on the first Metroid .
