Netflix has been a native application on the Xbox 360 since launch, and Sony recently announced it would be getting a disc-free version for the PlayStation 3 this week . Today, Nintendo announced its own disc-free app, bringing the convenience of streaming movies without disc-swapping to all three consoles

THQ’s uDraw Studio, Wii GameTablet Coming November 14

THQ has announced that their uDraw GameTablet peripheral for Wii will be released on November 14, allowing gamers to draw on the tablet using a stylus and see their work represented on their TV screens. The GameTablet peripheral will launch with drawing game uDraw Studio packed in, with the total package coming out to $69.99. THQ will also have two other games releasing along with the uDraw GameTablet’s launch: Dood’s Big Adventure (which is apparently a platformer) and, of course, Pictionary

Peter Moore Sees FIFA Evolving into a Disc-Less, Persistent Franchise

Many often wonder, from a game design and innovation standpoint, whether there are other options for sports franchises than releasing new entries every single year. It seems EA Sports president Peter Moore has thought about it, too, as he revealed to MCV an ambitious plan to take at least one of their franchises — FIFA — away from yearly disc releases and toward a persistent, online presence. “Personally I still think there’ll be discs five years from now.

NPDs: Wii Sales Down 45 Percent from This Time Last Year

The NPD Group isn’t publishing hardware sales figures anymore, but the numbers are leaking out just the same. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter revealed today that the Wii sold just 254,000 units this month, which is a 45 percent drop from this time last year (via IndustryGamers ). Pachter blames the slower sales on “gamer fatigure and a lack of high-profile releases.” The platform’s biggest releases this fall are Kirby’s Epic Yarn , Metroid Other M and Wii Party , the latter two being released this month

Former Edge Trademark Owner Langdell Booted From IGDA

After being stripped of his “edge” trademarks last week, word now comes that the International Game Developers Association has revoked Tim Langdell’s membership after a vote by its Board of Directors. IGDA board chairman Brian Robbins posted a brief note (via GamesIndustry.biz ) this week stating, “The Board of Directors today voted to remove Tim Langdell from IGDA membership pursuant to our bylaws Article III.

Rumor: 360 "Game Room" Dev Krome Studios Shutting Down

According to various — but yet unconfirmed — online reports, Xbox 360 Game Room developer Krome Studios will be shutting down this Monday, October 18. The reports come by way of Tsumea (via Kotaku ), which states that “credible reports” on Krome’s fate are flooding in, including reports they’ve received directly as well as some reports appearing on Twitter and their own comments section. All if it points to the same thing: Australia-based Krome will lay off the rest of its remaining staff and shut down both its main headquarter in Brisbane and its remaining office in Melbourne.

Nintendo World Store Closed for Renovation
